Axcis Education are working with a SEN school in Exeter who are keen to recruit a SEN Teaching Assistant that is committed to supporting and nurturing secondary age pupils with ASD, communication difficulties and MLD.

The school is close to Exeter city centre but with free parking! The school has every resource you could imagine and is a fantastic learning environment for these young people. Most classes have 7-8 pupils that are working on an adapted curriculum in line with their ability and are supported by a team of supportive SEN teacher and several TAs in each class.

This full-time, long-term role could lead to a permanent position. This is a safe and encouraging environment where the pupils are nurtured and supported to reach their full potential though a range of highly engaging lessons and activities.

The role involves working in both a 1-1 and small group capacity to support the pupils learning and helping them build confidence. This role is from Monday to Friday starting on January 4th 2023 for the rest of the academic year with the following hours: 8.50am to 5.00pm on Mondays (training session) and 8.50 to 3.30pm for the rest of the week.

The pay is £90 per day, paid weekly.

The successful SEN Teaching Assistant should:
• Be resilient and able to remain calm in challenging situations
• Have a caring and compassion approach
• Have an in-depth knowledge of safeguarding guidelines
• Understand the delicate nature of working with pupils with communication difficulties.
• Have the drive to consistently engage pupils with creative activities
• Be able to provide evidence of successful experiences from working with pupils with additional learning needs
