Axcis are pleased to be working with a large primary school close to Babbacombe who is looking to recruit an experienced 1-1 Teaching Assistant to work 1-1 with a Year 6 male pupil with autism and ADHD with an immediate start until Easter 2023. This is a full-time role with the working hours 8.45am to 3.15pm.
The school has a very friendly atmosphere and a supportive environment, and is well liked by all staff we have sent to them in the past. Situated in Torquay, the school has been described as having a positive and inclusive working ethos and has excellent links to public transport.
You will be a role model, mentor and daily support to the child you will be working with and will need to be able to establish a good working relationship with them. Resilience is an essential trait as the child has challenging behaviour and experience working with children with autism is a must. You must have a calm nature and ability to de-escalate situations. The successful candidate will be creative, flexible and have a natural talent for working with students who exhibit challenging behaviour.
The pay is between £80 and £85 per day depending on experience.
To apply for this role you must have previous experience of working with primary age children that have additional needs in an educational setting. In addition, you have a DBS dated within the previous 3 years and to be prepared to apply for a new one or have a DBS on the update service. It is essential that you are able to commit to working full-time school hours for the period of this placement.
