Axcis Education is recruiting on behalf of a special school in the Skelmersdale area for teaching assistants experienced in working with PMLD children aged between 11 and 19. This would be a full time long term position working between 8:30 and 15:30 with potential for a permanent role for the successful candidate. This position would involve working with a range of children with profound and multiple learning difficulties aged between 11 and 19 on either a 1-1 or 2-1 basis. Some children also exhibit challenging behaviour. You must have prior experience working with SEND in some to be considered for this role and must be prepared to provide personal care. This role would suit applicants from a care background.

The role is based in a highly regarded special school that was rated ‘good’ by OFSTED in its latest inspection with particular note given to the pride that staff feel working here. The successful candidate would be working in small class sizes of with support from teachers and other teaching assistants. The school has access to fantastic facilities, including a hydrotherapy pool, multiple sensory rooms for the pupils to use and a forest school provision. The school has a large car park on site and bus links less than 5 minutes walk away.

To be considered for this role, candidates must have prior experience working with children with PMLD, whether in a school or care setting, and be prepared to provide personal care. Familiarity with manual handling is also desirable. This role would suit someone from a care background due to the needs of the children. Personal care will be required.
