Description
Axcis Education has a position available for a teaching assistant in a mainstream primary school in Preston. This would be a full time role, working Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 3.30pm. The position is a 1-2-1 position, working with two autistic pupils. During the morning, you would be supporting a pupil in the nursery, then spend the afternoon supporting a pupil in a reception class. Both pupils are on autistic spectrum and are non verbal. Neither display any challenging behaviour and more just require a little bit of support in the classroom to ensure they stay on track.
The school is a lovely smaller than average primary school in the Ribbleton area of Preston. It is a well regarded school within the community. In its most recent inspection, the school was rated as 'good' by OFSTED with particular note given to the leadership of the headteacher. There is an excellent group of support staff in place to assist any new starters. There is a car park on site for those who drive, while there are good public transport links within 10 minutes walk.
To be considered for this role, you must have previous experience working with children in some form, ideally in a school setting. Previous experience working with the SEND needs mentioned above would be looked upon favourably. The role would suit an applicant who is friendly, proactive and reliable. Ideally you will have an enhanced DBS on the update service, though if you do not have one, Axcis can help you apply for a new one
