Description
Axcis are looking to appoint a hard working teaching assistant, for a role in an alternative provision in the Preston area. The school is smaller than average, currently catering for KS3 / 4 students, . The school caters for students who can no longer remain in mainstream education, often due to their behaviour. Many of the students come from disadvantaged backgrounds and/or have additional needs including autism and ADHD. Many of the students that attend this school have SEMH difficulties and will display quite challenging behaviours, so strong behaviour management skills are essential.
The role, is full time and will start after the half term break! The school hours are 8.30am - 3.30pm Monday - Friday and you will be expected to work with all age groups, across KS3 / 4. The school do deliver quite a lot of alternative curriculum subjects so you may be expected to assist in outdoor education, duke of Edinburgh and hair & beauty classes. The school would also be keen for applicants able to offer their own specialism in an extra-curricular subject, whether that is sport, artistic or practically based.
The candidate, should have some SEND and/or SEMH experience and have strong behaviour management skills. The candidate must be available full time and be able to start as soon as possible! The candidate will be hard working, a team player and compassionate. Pay starts at £12 per hour for this role.
