Part time 1:1 Teaching assistant
Axcis Education are looking for a teaching assistant with great skills in managing behaviours to support a year 1 student with autism and oppositional defiant disorder. Working days are Monday to Friday with hours being 8:30 - lunchtime. The school are looking into more funding for the student to have full time support - but this is not confirmed as of yet. The right person will be firm on boundaries, not afraid to try new ways to manage behaviour and handle a lot of 'no'. They will be good at working both on their own with the student but also supporting the teacher in learning goals that they want the student to achieve.
The school is in the St George area of Bristol and is very easy to reach on public transport, with a bus stop literally just outside the school gates. The infant school enjoys a pleasant reputation among the local community and has high expectations of its students, whilst pushing to make sure that their school is always warm, friendly and welcoming.
In order to be considered for this work, you will need to ideally have experience in working with primary aged children and hold an enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one.
