SEN Learning Support Assistant – Reading
Location: Reading
Full-Time | Monday–Friday | Primary School
Are you passionate about helping children with SEND thrive?
SENDHelp is recruiting a caring, resilient and proactive SEN Learning Support Assistant for a welcoming primary school in Reading.
As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you'll support children who may find a busy mainstream classroom overwhelming and need additional help to access learning. Pupils may have needs including autism (ASD), ADHD, communication difficulties, sensory needs and SEMH.
You'll help children build confidence, regulate their emotions, communicate effectively and become more independent – making a genuine difference to their experience of school.
What You'll Be Doing
Provide 1:1 and small-group SEN support.
Help pupils access adapted lessons and activities.
Support communication, emotional regulation and social skills.
Use positive behaviour strategies and structured routines.
Support individual targets and EHCP outcomes.
Encourage confidence, independence and engagement.
Work closely with teachers, the SENCO and other professionals.
Create a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for an SEN Learning Support Assistant who is patient, compassionate and confident supporting children with additional needs.
Previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, Behaviour Mentor or Youth Worker would be highly beneficial.
A Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, Childcare or SEND qualification is desirable, although relevant hands-on experience is equally valued.
