Job Title: ADHD Teaching Assistant
Location: Sutton, London
Hours: 8:00am-4:30pm, Full time
Pay: Paid to scale
Start Date: Monday 1st September

Job Overview:
Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of young learners with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)? We are seeking an empathetic, dynamic, and dedicated Teaching Assistant to support our students with ADHD at our inclusive school in Sutton, London. As an ADHD Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support, encouraging academic achievement, and promoting positive behaviour to ensure our students thrive both educationally and personally.

Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to understand the individual needs of students with ADHD and assist in the implementation of Individualised Education Plans (IEPs).
• Utilize specialized teaching strategies to engage and motivate students with varying attention spans and energy levels, ensuring they remain focused on learning tasks.
• Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, reinforcing instructional material and concepts introduced by the teacher.
• Assist in organizing learning materials and classroom environments that are conducive to the needs of students with ADHD.
• Monitor student progress and participate in discussions about their social, emotional, and academic development.
• Use positive behaviour management techniques, consistent with school policies, to maintain a structured and supportive learning environment.
• Act as a role model, developing connections with students to build their self-esteem and encourage independence.
• Liaise with parents, teachers, and other professionals such as educational psychologists to ensure a coordinated approach to each student's education.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to remain current on best practices for supporting students with ADHD.

Qualifications:
• Experience working with children or young people with ADHD or other special education needs.
• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, or equivalent qualification, is preferred.
• Strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with ADHD and proven strategies to enhance their learning experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, showing an ability to interact with students, staff, and parents empathetically and effectively.
• Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude towards helping children with varied educational needs.
• Good organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and adapt to changing schedules and requirements.
• A commitment to ongoing professional development in the area of special educational needs.
• An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undertake one).
