Job Title: Behaviour Mentor
Location: Salford, Lancashire
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join our vibrant and supportive team in a dynamic educational environment located in Salford, Lancashire. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in guiding and mentoring students with challenging behaviour, helping them overcome social, emotional, and behavioural obstacles to their learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with students who have been identified as having behavioural difficulties, providing one-on-one support and group interventions as needed.
- Implement behaviour management strategies and Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with teaching staff and the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo).
- Monitor and track the progress of students, adapting strategies to meet their evolving needs and reporting on their development to relevant parties.
- Establish strong relationships with students, helping them develop skills such as self-regulation, respect, and positive communication.
- Act as a role model, promoting positive behaviour and encouraging students to take responsibility for their actions.
- Provide a safe and supportive space for students to discuss their issues, working together to develop coping strategies.
- Liaise with teachers, parents, and external agencies to create a unified support network for students.
- Assist in the creation of a positive school culture that celebrates success and promotes inclusivity.
- Facilitate reintegration into the classroom environment and assist with transition planning for students moving to new educational settings.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay informed about the latest behavioural strategies and interventions.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with behavioural challenges.
- An understanding of the issues facing young people with behavioural, emotional, and social difficulties.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with students, staff, and external parties.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- A proactive and flexible approach to work, with the ability to remain calm and positive in challenging situations.
- A relevant degree or qualification in education, youth work, psychology, counselling, or a related field is desirable but not essential.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and learning.
