Job Title: BSL Level 1 Teaching Assistant – Secondary School

Are you passionate about supporting students with hearing impairments? Do you have a BSL Level 1 qualification and a desire to make a difference in a secondary school setting?
We are working on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive secondary school to recruit a BSL Level 1 teaching assistant to support students with hearing loss and communication needs. This rewarding role is perfect for someone with a calm, supportive nature who wants to help young people succeed both socially and academically.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support students with hearing impairments in and out of the classroom
• Use British Sign Language (BSL) Level 1 to aid communication and understanding
• Work alongside the class teacher and SENCO to deliver tailored support
• Promote student independence, confidence, and engagement in learning
• Help maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment
Requirements:
• British Sign Language (BSL) Level 1 (minimum)
• Experience working with children or young people (desirable but not essential)
• Patient, reliable, and understanding nature
• A DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
• Passion for inclusion and supporting students with additional needs
