Job Title: BSL Level 3 Teaching Assistant – School-Based Role
Location: LS16
Contract Type: Agency
Start Date: September

Axcis Education is currently recruiting a Level 3 BSL (British Sign Language) teaching assistant to join a vibrant and supportive school environment. You will be working directly with students who have hearing impairments and/or additional communication needs.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate, patient, and committed individual to play a key role in supporting inclusive education and making a lasting impact in the lives of young learners.


Key Responsibilities:

• Provide dedicated 1:1 and small group support to students using BSL as their primary method of communication.
• Facilitate effective communication between students, staff, and peers.
• Support lesson delivery, adapting resources to meet the individual needs of learners.
• Assist with classroom activities, behaviour management, and emotional wellbeing.
• Collaborate closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other support professionals.
• Maintain accurate records related to student progress and communication needs.
Requirements
• Minimum BSL Level 2 qualification (Level 3 preferred or currently studying towards it).
• Experience supporting children or young people, ideally within a school or educational setting.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting inclusive education.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
• Flexibility to work across different school settings when required.
