Axcis is working very closely with an ASD-specific all-age special school in the Handsworth area. This is a school with an honest school that strives to do their best; who are looking for staff who will work together to achieve their goals of being "Inspirational, Aspirational and Transformational".

The school is currently evolving from being a primary school to an all-age school and from September 2025 will be going up a year group to include Year 9 (up to age 14 years). Due to the schools growth they have teamed up with Axcis to support their permanent recruitment needs, all the roles are temporary to permanent positions, meaning that the school will offer a permanent contract to the right candidate after a trial period.

These roles are classroom-based, supporting very complex individuals with a lead diagnosis of Autism (ASD) and a range range of additional needs such as sensory processing, challenging behaviour and communication delays including non/pre-verbal communication.

While the school is happy to accept applications from candidates with previous school experience this is not essential. The school will also consider individuals with personal life experience and/or professional experience from the health and/or social care sector.

Job details:
• Supporting complex Autistic pupils with additional needs such as sensory processing, challenging behaviour and communication delays including non-verbal communication
• Working on a one to one and small group basis
• Full time (8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday)
• Ongoing basis, starting September 2025, leading onto a permanent contract

• Experience of supporting individuals with Autism including sensory processing, challenging behaviour and communication delays including non-verbal communication - Essential
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service required or we’re happy to carry out a new one ahead of you starting the position – Essential
• Minimum of 2 references covering the past 12 months – Essential
