Description
Axcis is looking for a support worker in the Handsworth area to work as a Teaching Assistant. You will be an integral part of the team who put the children and young people at the heart of everything they do. The hours for this role is 8:30 - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday, starting in September 2025 for a minimum of the whole of the 2025/26 academic year.
The successful candidate will be dynamic, creative and will work hard to meet the personalised needs of the children. The post holder will have high expectations of the children ensuring they reflect on the children’s needs to ensure progress is being made both academically, socially and emotionally. Depending on the child(ren) you are supporting, there may be a requirement to support with low-level personal care.
You will support the class teacher to promote positive behaviour, you will understand learning objectives, content and intended outcomes for the learning activities in which students are involved and you will support monitoring student progress. You will be part of a key team around the young person in order to maintain consistent support, communication and updated support plans.
About you:
Ideally, for this role, we are looking for someone who has experience of working with children who have complex autism, a passion for supporting young people to learn and develop but more importantly, someone who wants to make a difference to the lives and education of our children and young people.
We look for people to join our staff team who have the creativity and enthusiasm needed to deliver the best outcomes for the children and young people.
You will need to be experienced supporting children, however not necessarily in a school environment. Axcis offers free CPD and safeguarding training to provide you with constant support where necessary.
