Job Title: Complex Needs Teaching Assistant
Location: London, Sutton
Pay: Paid to scale
Hours: 8:00am-4:30pm, Full time
Start Date: Monday 1st September
We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic team within a nurturing educational environment in Surrey. This role is instrumental in providing specialized support to students with diverse and complex needs, ensuring they receive the tailored educational experiences vital for their development and success.
Responsibilities:
• Assist in the planning and delivery of individualized educational plans, adapting instructional materials and techniques to meet the unique needs of each student.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to implement effective strategies that promote positive learning and social outcomes.
• Offer one-to-one support and group assistance to students, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
• Assist in monitoring student progress and participate in the review of educational plans to ensure goals are being met.
• Manage challenging behaviours with sensitivity and implement behaviour management techniques as directed.
• Aid in the development of students’ communication skills, social integration, and independence.
• Prepare and organize learning resources and ensure the learning environment is safe and conducive to learning.
• Participate in training and development activities to remain current in the field of special education.
Requirements:
• Experience working with children or young adults with complex needs within an educational setting is preferred.
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or a related field.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• A calm, patient, and empathetic approach with resilience and adaptability.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
