Job Title: Complex Needs Teaching Assistant
Location: Wandsworth, London
Pay: Paid to scale
Hours: 8:00am-4:30pm
Start Date: Monday 1st September
Position Summary:
We seek a dedicated and compassionate Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive educational team in Wandsworth, London. The successful candidate will provide essential support to pupils with a diverse range of learning difficulties and disabilities, ensuring they have the opportunity to achieve their full potential in a nurturing and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in the educational and social development of pupils with complex needs under the direction and guidance of the Special Education Needs Coordinator (SENCO) and classroom teachers.
• Employ specialized strategies for supporting pupils with learning difficulties, sensory impairments, and physical disabilities.
• Contribute to the planning and preparation of individually tailored lessons and activities.
• Promote the independence of students while maintaining a keen awareness of their safety and wellbeing.
• Facilitate the use of assistive technology and other educational resources to enhance learning experiences.
• Participate in the evaluation and monitoring of students' progress, adapting support as needed.
• Foster a positive, secure learning environment and build trusting relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers.
• Liaise with other professionals, such as therapists and social workers, to ensure a holistic approach to student care.
Qualifications:
• Previous experience working with children or young people with complex needs.
• A relevant teaching assistant qualification or a commitment to achieving one.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patient, understanding, and resilient personality with a passion for inclusive education.
