Job Title: Cover Supervisor
Location: Salford, Lancashire
Job Description:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Cover Supervisor to join our dynamic team in the education sector in Salford, Lancashire. The ideal candidate will be passionate about contributing to the educational journey of students and ensuring that quality teaching is delivered, even in the absence of regular teaching staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise pupils during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring that pre-set work is completed, and manage the behavior of pupils whilst they are undertaking this work.
- Respond to any questions from pupils about process and procedures.
- Ensure the classroom environment remains conducive to learning during the absence of the teacher.
- Manage the behavior of learners, ensuring a constructive environment and that the school’s behavior policy is adhered to.
- Collect any completed work after the lesson and return it to the appropriate teacher.
- Report back as necessary to teachers on the behavior of pupils during the class, using the school’s agreed referral procedures.
- Participate in administrative tasks as required, such as the preparation of classroom resources.
- Ensure the safeguarding of all students in line with school policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong classroom management skills with the ability to keep students engaged.
- Good level of education, ideally to degree level or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a similar role or working with children is desirable but not essential.
- Flexibility and adaptability to manage different tasks and workloads.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and act with discretion and diplomacy.
- Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Committed to the safeguarding and welfare of children and young people.
- Must undergo a DBS check if not already held.
