Down Syndrome Teaching Assistant – Full-Time
Location: Sutton
Hours: 9.00am – 3.45pm, Monday to Friday
Start: September
We are working with a warm, welcoming SEND school in Sutton with a real family feel, looking to appoint a full-time Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Down Syndrome and associated learning needs.
This is a highly rewarding role for someone with a nurturing, calm and flexible approach, who is passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of children with special educational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Providing tailored support to pupils with Down Syndrome in a small, structured class setting
Supporting communication, social interaction and emotional regulation
Assisting with personal care and daily routines where required (full training provided)
Promoting independence, engagement and progress through targeted activities
Working collaboratively with class teachers, therapists and other support staff to meet EHCP targets
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Experience working with children or young people with Down Syndrome or other learning disabilities
A patient, empathetic and resilient nature
Confidence or willingness to support personal care if needed
Strong communication skills and a commitment to inclusive education
