SEND Teaching Assistant – Early Years & Autism – Primary – Rainham

Axcis are working with a welcoming mainstream primary school in Rainham that has a dedicated SEN provision, who are looking for a compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to support children in Early Years. The school has a Good Ofsted rating, an excellent reputation for inclusion, and a nurturing environment that places the wellbeing and development of every child at its heart. Located just a 5-minute walk from the station and with on-site parking, it’s a great option for staff commuting from across East London and Essex.
In this role, you will be:
• Supporting children in Early Years with autism and general learning or communication needs.
• Providing 1:1 and small group support to help children access play-based learning.
• Assisting with personal care and daily routines, ensuring a safe and happy classroom.
• Using visual aids, structured teaching and sensory play to encourage engagement and independence.
• Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and parents to meet each child’s individual targets.
What we’re looking for:
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND, ideally in Early Years or KS1.
• Understanding of autism and early communication strategies (e.g. PECS, Makaton or TEACCH).
• A patient, caring and proactive approach.
• Teamwork and flexibility to adapt to pupils’ individual needs.
