About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist all-age autism school in Hungerford. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of children and young people with autism by providing tailored support within a structured, nurturing and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with autism and complex additional needs.
• Support students with classroom learning through personalised activities and interventions.
• Assist with personal care where required, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
• Respond calmly and effectively to challenging behaviour, using positive behaviour strategies.
• Help implement individual behaviour and support plans to promote emotional wellbeing and social development.
• Encourage communication, independence and engagement throughout the school day.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and support staff to deliver high-quality education and care.
About You
The ideal candidate will be:
• Experienced in supporting children or young people with autism and/or SEND needs.
• Calm, resilient and confident in managing challenging behaviour.
• Comfortable providing personal care when necessary.
• Patient, empathetic and adaptable, with strong communication skills.
• Passionate about supporting children to achieve their full potential in a safe and inclusive learning environment.
