Experienced SEND Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Support | Primary School | Redbridge
Full-Time | Immediate Start | Long-Term Role
Axcis Education is working with a nurturing and inclusive primary school in Redbridge to recruit a highly experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to support a non-verbal pupil with global developmental delay and severe social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
This is a full-time position starting as soon as possible, continuing for the remainder of the academic year, with the potential for a long-term role for the right person. The successful candidate will bring a trauma-informed, child-centred approach and a genuine commitment to making a lasting difference in a child’s life.
The Role:
One-to-one support for a pupil in Key Stage 1 or 2
Supporting communication, sensory regulation and emotional wellbeing
Implementing strategies tailored to a child with early trauma and developmental delay
Working closely with the SENCO, class teacher, and external specialists
Using visual aids, routines and positive behaviour support to create a safe and structured environment
Who We’re Looking For:
A highly experienced SEND TA, preferably with a background in Psychology, Child Development or related field
Proven experience supporting non-verbal pupils and children with SEMH or complex needs
Skilled in using communication aids such as PECS, Makaton, or visual schedules
Emotionally resilient, calm under pressure, and confident in supporting behavioural challenges
A strong understanding of the impact of childhood trauma and attachment difficulties
