Description
Our client is a well-established offshore legal firm that provides professional legal services across a network of international offices. They are currently seeking a structured and commercially minded finance professional to join their team in a permanent, full-time, onsite capacity.
Acting as the key finance lead on the ground in the Cayman Islands, this role bridges the gap between the local office and the central Finance function. It is an excellent fit for an operational specialist who enjoys working cross-functionally with legal teams, managing local corporate banking relationships, and ensuring day-to-day financial controls run smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
• Financial Management & Operations: Take ownership of the day-to-day Cayman finance operations, ensuring accurate and timely billing, credit control, cashiering, bank reconciliations, and accounts payable.
• Transactional Support: Work directly with the Real Estate team to oversee the financial elements of property completions, handling the high-volume, time-sensitive receipt, reconciliation, and disbursement of funds.
• Working Capital Control: Monitor financial performance and conduct regular reviews of Aged WIP, Aged Debt, and matter balances to optimize cash flow and reduce lock-up.
• Team Supervision: Provide direct line management, guidance, and training to a local
Finance Administrator.
• Compliance & Audits: Maintain robust internal control frameworks, ensuring full compliance with local Cayman regulations, AML requirements, and client accounting rules while assisting with in-house entity audits.
• Process Improvements: Collaborate with the central finance team to standardize reporting and proactively implement process efficiencies locally.
Key Requirements
• Qualifications: A professional accounting qualification (such as ACCA, CIMA, CPA) or equivalent practical experience.
• Sector Experience: Proven experience in a finance management role, ideally gained within a law firm or a professional services environment.
• Jurisdictional Knowledge: A solid understanding of financial operations, reporting, and regulatory compliance requirements within the Cayman Islands.
• Systems: Proficiency with legal finance systems and practice management software, with a strong preference for candidates experienced in Aderant.
• Technical Skills: High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, a strong eye for detail, and the communication skills necessary to guide non-finance staff on financial best practices.
• Agility: The ability to prioritize day-to-day operational accounting alongside urgent, time-critical client transactions.
