Description
Are you looking for flexible, rewarding work in local schools that fits around your lifestyle? We’re recruiting Flexible Learning Support Assistants to support pupils across primary and secondary schools in and around Ilminster. This role is ideal if you want meaningful work with children and young people, without committing to one fixed school or timetable.
You’ll be supporting pupils with SEMH needs, autism and learning disabilities, helping them feel included, supported and able to engage with their learning. Placements vary from day to day, giving you the chance to gain experience in different settings and build a broad, transferable skillset.
What this role offers:
• Flexible work – choose full-time or part-time to suit your lifestyle
• Hours: 8:30am–3:30pm, weekdays
• Pay: £13.70 per hour
• Start: ASAP
• Work across a range of schools in the Ilminster area
• Opportunities for longer-term or permanent roles when placements are a good fit
This is a great option if you’re balancing other responsibilities, studying, or simply want variety in your working week.
What you’ll be doing:
• Supporting pupils with additional needs in classrooms or small groups
• Helping children manage emotions, stay focused and access learning
• Working alongside teachers to provide calm, consistent support
• Adapting to different school environments and individual pupil needs
• Building positive relationships that help pupils feel safe and confident
Some days can be challenging — but the impact you make is real and lasting.
Who this role is perfect for:
This role suits local people, graduates, youth workers, sports coaches, support workers or anyone considering a future in teaching, SEN, mental health or youth services.
Experience working with young people is valued, but we’re really looking for people who are:
• Kind, patient and reliable
• Adaptable and confident in new settings
• Motivated by supporting children and young people to succeed
Why choose flexible work in schools?
• Gain hands-on experience in education and SEN support
• Develop valuable skills in communication, behaviour and emotional support
• Keep evenings and weekends free
• Fit work around family life, study or other interests
If you’re looking for flexible work with purpose, where no two days are the same, this could be the perfect role for you.
