Senior Quantity Surveyor
Freelance | Outside IR35 | Long Term Contract | East Midlands

Our client is a well-established regional civil engineering and infrastructure contractor with a strong reputation for delivering complex construction projects across the Midlands. Their work spans highways, infrastructure, earthworks, structures, public realm, and civil engineering schemes for both public and private sector clients. Due to continued project awards and a growing order book, they are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to strengthen their commercial team on a long-term freelance basis.

The Role
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of major civil engineering projects across the West Midlands and East Midlands regions. Working within an established commercial team, you will be responsible for managing the financial and contractual aspects of projects from procurement through to final account.
This role would suit a commercially astute Senior Quantity Surveyor with a strong civil engineering background and the ability to operate effectively within a fast-paced project environment.

Key Responsibilities
Manage the commercial performance of multiple civil engineering projects.
Administer NEC contracts and ensure contractual compliance.
Prepare and manage valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts.
Assess and negotiate variations and compensation events.
Monitor project costs and prepare accurate cost forecasts.
Procure and manage subcontract packages.
Produce monthly commercial reports and CVRs.
Identify commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
Liaise with operational teams, clients, subcontractors, and key stakeholders.
Ensure commercial objectives are achieved while maintaining strong client relationships.

Experience & Requirements
Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering.
Strong working knowledge of NEC forms of contract.
Experience delivering infrastructure, highways, groundworks, or major civils projects.
Ability to manage subcontract procurement and administration.
Excellent commercial reporting and forecasting skills.
Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
Strong negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
