The Roles
Functional Skills Maths Tutor (Full-Time)
You will plan and deliver engaging Maths sessions (up to Level 2) for apprentices and trainees, building learners’ confidence and ability to apply mathematical concepts in real-world and vocational contexts.
Key responsibilities:
Plan and deliver high-quality Maths teaching in one-to-one and group settings
Conduct diagnostic assessments and create individual learning plans
Support and track learners’ progress towards achieving Functional Skills qualifications
Work collaboratively with vocational tutors and employers to integrate numeracy into practical learning
Maintain accurate learner records and contribute to quality assurance processes
Functional Skills English Tutor (Part-Time)
This role focuses on helping learners improve their English skills — including reading, writing, and communication — to support their apprenticeship journey and future career success.
Key responsibilities:
Deliver creative and interactive English sessions (Entry Level to Level 2)
Provide tailored support to meet diverse learning needs
Track learner progress and set achievable goals
Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment
Support the wider teaching team in developing learner literacy
What We’re Looking For
Both tutors should bring a combination of passion, professionalism, and adaptability.
Essential:
Recognised teaching qualification (AET/PTLLS, Cert Ed, PGCE, or equivalent)
GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above
Experience delivering Functional Skills in an FE, apprenticeship, or training environment
Excellent communication and classroom management skills
Ability to engage and motivate learners of varying abilities
Desirable:
Experience supporting apprentices or work-based learners
Assessor qualification (TAQA, CAVA, or equivalent)
