Our client is a well-established, independent fiduciary services provider with an international reputation for supporting HNW and UHNW private clients. The business administers a varied portfolio of multi-jurisdictional structures and offers a collegiate, professionally focused working environment.
The Opportunity
This senior position will take day-to-day responsibility for the client accounting and bookkeeping function. The successful candidate will manage the team, oversee workflows and ensure all financial reporting is completed accurately and within the required deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
• Agree and manage the annual schedule for year-end accounts, management accounts and ad hoc reporting.
• Ensure accounting and bookkeeping workloads are completed within agreed deadlines.
• Review and, where appropriate, prepare financial statements for client entities.
• Monitor accounts status, statutory deadlines and client expectations.
• Report overdue accounting and bookkeeping matters to the relevant committees.
• Prepare quarterly board reports and present them when required.
• Ensure ledgers are reviewed and approved before submission to external accountants.
• Oversee externally prepared financial statements, VAT returns, tax returns, substance returns and other statutory financial records.
• Support Guernsey Income Tax return preparation and contribute to the Tax Committee.
• Manage, guide and mentor the bookkeeping team, including appraisals, objectives and training requirements.
• Monitor team performance against KPIs and address issues promptly.
• Maintain a strong focus on quality, accuracy, technical knowledge and timely delivery.
Person Specification
• Professional accounting qualification.
• Essential experience in client accounting within the fiduciary sector.
• Proven experience managing people and leading a client accounting or bookkeeping team.
• Strong analytical and methodical approach.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Proactive approach to workflow management and continuous improvement.
• Experience using Acumen would be beneficial but is not essential.
