A welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Ilford is seeking a confident and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to lead a small class of pupils with diverse learning needs.
About the Role
This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced HLTA to take a lead role in delivering high-quality learning to a class of 8 pupils, supported by 3 Teaching Assistants.
You will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons, managing the classroom environment, and ensuring each child reaches their full potential. The role involves working with pupils with a range of needs, so adaptability and a nurturing approach are key.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage a small class of 8 students
• Deliver lessons in line with the curriculum
• Differentiate learning to meet a range of abilities and needs
• Effectively deploy and direct 3 Teaching Assistants within the classroom
• Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to staff and parents where required
• Create a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment
• Support behaviour management in line with school policies
Requirements
• Essential: Previous experience working as a HLTA in a primary school setting
• Confident leading a class independently and managing workload expectations
• Strong understanding of the primary curriculum
• Experience supporting pupils with a range of additional needs
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
