HLTA – Autism Resource Provision – Primary – Barking & Dagenham
£120–£145 per day | Full-Time | Long-Term | Barking & Dagenham
Axcis Education is recruiting a confident and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work within a primary school in Barking & Dagenham, supporting children with Autism in an additional resource provision.
This is a hands-on role for someone who is comfortable taking on more responsibility than a standard TA position. You’ll be supporting pupils with Autism through small-group work, targeted interventions and structured learning, while also helping to maintain routines, engagement and independence throughout the school day.
The provision is designed to give pupils additional specialist support within a mainstream primary environment. No personal care is required for this role.
About the Role
Supporting pupils with Autism within an additional resource provision
Leading small-group activities and targeted interventions
Delivering learning under the direction of the class teacher
Supporting pupils with communication, focus and emotional regulation
Helping children access learning through clear routines and structured support
Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and other support staff
Encouraging pupils to develop confidence and independence
Providing occasional classroom cover where appropriate
About You
We would particularly like to hear from candidates who:
Have previous experience as a HLTA, experienced SEND TA or LSA
Have strong experience supporting children with Autism
Are confident leading small groups and interventions
Can use initiative and work independently when required
Understand how to support pupils without over-supporting them
Are calm, proactive and able to build positive relationships

The role is based in Barking & Dagenham, within a mainstream primary school offering additional specialist support for pupils with SEND.
