Description
Axcis Education are seeking a teacher or experienced HLTA to work in a mainstream primary school in Clayton-le-Moors. This is a full time position, due to begin ASAP and due to run at least until the end of the academic year.
The role would be to provide support for four pupils with complex SEMH needs. One child has a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and all require a firm yet nurturing approach. There is challenging behaviour, with the pupils being physically and verbally aggressive on occasion. The pupils are in years 1, 2 and 3. They are working in a separate provision onsite currently.
You would receive a large amount of support from the leadership team within the school, with the head and deputy head taking a very active role in supporting these pupils. The Blackburn with Darwen Inclusion Team is also heavily involved in ensuring these pupils receive the correct support within school. The school are keen to find an applicant with enough experience and proactivity to adapt their approach according to what is working, and what is not working, with the pupils.
What We’re Looking For:
• Experience working with children with SEMH, trauma, ASD, or behavioural needs
• A firm but fair approach, with confidence in setting boundaries
• The ability to de-escalate challenging situations and promote positive behaviour
• A nurturing and therapeutic presence – someone who builds strong relationships with pupils
• Open-mindedness and adaptability to meet individual needs
• Experience in mainstream or specialist education settings
