The Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils throughout the school day, working closely with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to deliver engaging and meaningful learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with a range of SEND needs.
Assist teachers in delivering personalised learning activities and adapting resources where required.
Support pupils with communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and independence skills.
Encourage positive behaviour and help create a safe, inclusive learning environment.
Assist with personal care where required, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, parents, and external professionals to support pupil progress.
Record observations and contribute to pupil reviews and progress monitoring.
Support pupils during educational visits, enrichment activities, and therapy sessions.
What We're Looking For
We would love to hear from candidates who:
Have experience working with children or young people with SEND, either in schools, care settings, youth work, or similar environments.
Have a good understanding of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), learning disabilities, and complex needs.
Are patient, resilient, and able to remain calm under pressure.
Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Are passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning.
Hold relevant qualifications in education, childcare, health and social care, or SEND support (desirable but not essential).
