Job Title: Learning Support Assistant – Special Educational Needs School
Location: Taunton
Pay Rate: £92.00 – £109.00 per day
Job Type: Full-time – Term Time Only (Temporary with Potential for Permanent Contract)
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs? We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist educational setting in Taunton, supporting pupils aged 4–19 with a wide range of learning difficulties and complex needs. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people while gaining valuable SEND experience. The school provides specialist support for pupils with needs including autism, moderate to profound learning difficulties, communication needs, physical disabilities, and sensory impairments.
About the Role:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with pupils across primary and secondary age groups, helping them to access learning, develop communication skills, and build confidence and independence. The role will involve a combination of 1:1 support and small group intervention work, tailored to meet the individual needs of each learner.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 support for pupils with additional and complex needs
Deliver small group interventions to support learning and personal development
Support communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation
Assist pupils in accessing a personalised curriculum
Encourage independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and wider support staff
Maintain high standards of safeguarding and pupil welfare
