Job Title: Mental Health Classroom Support
Location: Tameside and Stockport, Greater Manchester
Contract Type: Full-Time (8:30 AM – 3:30 PM)
Job Description:
Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Classroom Support professional to join schools across Tameside and Stockport. This role offers the chance to make a real difference in the lives of students facing emotional and behavioural challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs to help them achieve their educational and personal goals.
- Implement tailored support strategies under the direction of class teachers and SENCOs.
- Build trusting relationships with students to foster a safe, respectful, and encouraging learning environment.
- Use de-escalation techniques and positive behaviour management approaches to maintain a calm and focused classroom.
- Track and report on student progress, behaviour, and engagement.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and parents/carers to ensure consistent support.
- Attend relevant training and CPD opportunities related to behaviour, mental health, and safeguarding.
- Follow school safeguarding policies and uphold the values and expectations of the school community.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Qualifications in education, youth work, psychology, counselling, or related fields.
- Training in Team Teach, de-escalation, safeguarding, or behaviour management.
