Job Title: Pastoral Support - SEMH

Job Location: Halifax

Type: Full-time (8:30 AM - 3:30 PM), Permanent (post a 6-week probation period)

Axcis Education is excited to offer a fulfilling and impactful role dedicated to individuals passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Pastoral Support worker with a strong background in psychology or counseling. This role is an extraordinary opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of young people who encounter various challenges.

**Key Responsibilities:**

- Provide one-to-one and group support to students with SEMH needs, fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment.
- Collaborate with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to create holistic support plans tailored to individual student needs.
- Employ a range of strategies to promote positive behavior and enhance emotional literacy among the student body.
- Monitor and report on the well-being and progress of students under your care.
- Facilitate and support the reintegration of learners into the educational setting after periods of absence.
- Promote independence, resilience and social skills through personalized support and intervention.
- Be proactive in identifying the signs of distress or anxiety in students and take appropriate measures to address these concerns.
- Engage with continuous professional development relating to SEMH and pastoral care.

**Essential Qualifications & Experience:**

- A degree in Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.
- Proven experience working with young people who display challenging behaviors.
- An empathetic, patient and resilient individual with a genuine desire to support young people's mental health and well-being.
- Ability to build rapport and trust with students, staff, and parents.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Enhanced DBS check will be required.
