The Opportunity:

Based in the Lytham area, this multi-award winning business is seeking an experienced and proactive Payroll Officer to join their busy Payroll & Benefits Team. This is the perfect role for someone who enjoys processing end to end payroll, compliance and analysis. With a turnover of circa 225 million pounds, this well-established business has been operating for over 100 years. You will benefit from being able to work on a hybrid basis, whilst getting 33 days of annual leave and a healthy pension.


Salary and Benefits:

- A salary up to £29,000
- Hybrid working (2 days working from home a week)
- 25 days of annual leave (plus Bank Holidays)
- Life assurance
- A company pension of 5% that rises to 8% after 2 years of employment

Your New Role as the Payroll Officer:

- End to end payroll processing for over 1000 colleagues ensuring full compliance and accuracy
- Ensuring correct and well thought out decisions are being made where necessary
- Involvement in reporting and analysis including National Living Wage and Gender Pay Gap
- Recording of absence and associated calculations including statutory payments and Bradford Factor (holidays, sickness, maternity, paternity)
- Timesheet calculations
- Attachment of earnings
- Assisting in reviewing payroll emails and carrying out actions as necessary
- Administration of employee benefits i.e. pensions
- Be a trusted point of contact and a go-to for payroll queries for your colleagues across the business and internal/external stakeholders
- General ad hoc duties to support the Payroll & Benefits department


Experience and Skills Required to Apply:

- Ability to demonstrate the values and behaviours of the Company (ESSENTIAL)
- Experience in end-to-end payroll processing (ESSENTIAL)
- Working knowledge of National Living Wage and Gender Pay Gap compliance (ESSENTIAL)
- Proven ability to prioritise workload and meet objectives, working independently and as part of a team (ESSENTIAL)
- Excellent decision-making skills (ESSENTIAL)
- Able to embrace change as they move towards new software solutions and processes (ESSENTIAL)
- Excellent Excel & data entry skills including vlookups
- Ability to build good working relationships through communication (both written and verbal) and the confidence to reach out to colleagues to advise on any queries
- Payroll experience from a multisite or a retail background
- Previous involvement with integration of payroll systems and associated processes
- Managing benefits in kind
- This role would suit someone who comes from an environment where there is a degree of flexibility with policy and procedure
