We are recruiting for an experienced Port Health Officer to support a busy public protection service in the North West. This role involves carrying out inspections at border control points, checking imported goods, vessels and facilities to ensure compliance with public health and food safety legislation. You will undertake investigations, respond to complaints, complete official documentation and take enforcement action where required. The position is hands-on and varied, combining site-based inspections with administrative and regulatory responsibilities, and may include occasional out of hours work.

We are looking for a qualified Environmental Health Officer with registration and a strong understanding of relevant legislation. You will need experience working under pressure, making decisions independently and handling complex investigations. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will be dealing with a range of stakeholders including importers and external agencies. Experience in imported food controls or port health would be advantageous but is not essential.

In return, we are offering a competitive rate of £60 per hour via umbrella. This is a hybrid role based in the North West, offering a mix of fieldwork and flexible working.
