Description
Primary School Teacher – Year 5 and 6 – Mitcham – September Start
Full time | Monday to Thursday 8am to 4pm, Friday 8.30am start (includes planning time)
A specialist SEND primary school in Mitcham is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Primary Teacher to lead a small Year 5 and 6 class from September. Pupils in this setting have a range of needs including autism, non verbal communication and sensory processing differences.
The class is small, with 5 to 8 pupils and supported by 2 to 3 experienced teaching assistants. Pupils are working at a lower academic level, so lessons are tailored to individual ability rather than year group expectations.
SEND experience is beneficial but not essential. The school is open to applications from strong mainstream primary teachers with a nurturing approach and good classroom management skills.
The Role
Teaching a mixed Year 5 and 6 group working at KS1 or early KS2 levels
Full time classroom responsibility
Working closely with experienced support staff to deliver a personalised curriculum
Delivering consistent routines and structure in a well-resourced setting
Schedule
Monday to Thursday 8am to 4pm
Friday 8.30am start with planning time
Weekly teacher meeting on Mondays (subject to change)
Ideal Candidate
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience in primary education
Adaptable, calm and confident working with a range of needs
Interest or experience in ASD, non verbal communication and sensory strategies
Ability to work well as part of a multidisciplinary team
This is a rewarding role within a caring, specialist environment. If you are passionate about inclusive education and confident working with diverse learning needs, we would love to hear from you.
