This new role will involve managing a busy team of 4 Road Freight Operators handling both outbound and inbound shipments, focusing on best-in-class customer service with excellent people management skills.

Main responsibilities will include overseeing and managing the following key elements -

Customer service – to receive and process customer bookings in a timely fashion. To build relationships with customer and overseas partners.

Customs & operational Compliance – to ensure all shipments are in-line and comply with the regulations set out in country of origin and UK customs. Work with the respective stakeholders to ensure all staff are clearly trained and up to date with legislation. Responsibility for auditing and maintain a quality output.

Commercial Awareness – to understand and use the current carrier rates to ensure profit margins. Ensure processes to align with company operational and financial targets.

Build Customer Relationships – ensure the retention and growth of key accounts and local customers through delivery of operational and customer excellence including attending customer visits.

Department Operational Performance – Assisting the Export Manager to lead the Road freight team, monitor performance to ensure customer service requirements are achieved including regular department review meetings.

Must have a solid background in Road Freight Operations and Customs and excellent systems knowledge including CHIEF/CDS and ideally CargoWise.
