Description

Axcis Education is recruiting for a caring and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Bridport, Dorset. This full-time role would suit an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping pupils achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil within the classroom, helping them access learning, develop independence and build confidence within the school environment. You will work closely with the class teacher and wider school team to ensure the pupil receives consistent, nurturing and individualised support.

About the Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with additional needs
• Support the pupil to access the curriculum and engage positively with learning and classroom activities
• Work closely with the class teacher and wider school team to implement effective support strategies
• Develop a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil through consistency, patience and encouragement
• Support emotional regulation, confidence building and social development
• Use positive behaviour management strategies to promote engagement and independence
• Help create a calm, structured and inclusive learning environment
• Support personalised learning activities and adapt resources where required
• Encourage independence, communication and positive participation in school life
• Monitor progress and celebrate the pupil’s achievements and milestones

The Ideal Candidate
The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will have:
• Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within a primary school, SEND, education or care setting
• Experience supporting children with additional needs, autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH or communication needs
• A patient, empathetic and resilient approach
• The ability to build strong, positive and trusting relationships with pupils
• Confidence supporting emotional regulation, behaviour and individual learning needs
• The ability to adapt their approach according to the individual needs of the pupil
• The ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a supportive team
• A genuine passion for supporting children’s development, wellbeing and educational progress
Desirable:
• Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Education, Childcare or equivalent
• Experience supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis
• Knowledge of positive behaviour support, emotional regulation or SEND strategies
• A driving licence and access to a vehicle would be beneficial

Pay: £92.63–£97 per day
Hours: Full-Time, Monday to Friday
