Rugby SEND Teaching Assistant – Autism, Speech, Language and Communications
Location: Rugby (CV21)
Contract Type: Full-time – Long-term role in a single school
Salary: £89 – £105 per day / £445 – £525 per week
Axcis Education is working with a supportive mainstream primary school in the CV21 area of Rugby looking to appoint a compassionate and reliable SEND Teaching Assistant to work with pupils with autism (ASD) and speech, language and communication needs (SLCN).
This long-term, full-time role is ideal for someone who values consistency, is confident in communication strategies, and is passionate about helping children thrive in a mainstream classroom.
The Role:
You will:
• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with ASD and SLCN across Key Stages 1 and 2.
• Use PECS, Makaton, and visual timetables to support understanding and communication.
• Implement strategies outlined in pupils’ EHCPs with guidance from the SENCO.
• Support children with emotional regulation and routine transitions.
• Foster an inclusive, structured, and nurturing classroom environment.
About You:
• Experience working with children with autism or communication difficulties.
• Knowledge of visual aids or alternative communication methods.
• A calm, patient, and enthusiastic personality.
• Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential.
• Passionate about inclusion and positive behaviour support.
