SEND Teaching Assistant – SEMH & ASD
Location: Carshalton, SM5
Hours: 9:00am – 3:45pm
Availability: Full-time, part-time and day-to-day opportunities available

A supportive specialist setting in Carshalton is looking for caring, resilient and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistants to join their team. The setting supports pupils with SEMH, ASD and a range of additional learning needs, providing a structured and nurturing environment where pupils can develop their confidence, independence and emotional wellbeing.
This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced SEND professionals, Teaching Assistants, youth workers, support workers, carers and parents of children with SEND who can bring patience, understanding and strong relationship-building skills to the role.
The Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:
• Support pupils with SEMH, ASD and additional learning needs
• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
• Provide one-to-one and small group support where required
• Support pupils with emotional regulation and engagement
• Help pupils manage challenging situations and develop coping strategies
• Encourage positive behaviour and participation in learning
• Support communication, social development and independence
• Help deliver personalised learning activities
• Work closely with teachers and the wider support team
• Create a calm, safe and positive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is:
• Caring, patient and emotionally resilient
• Experienced in supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH or ASD
• Confident supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviour
• Able to build strong and trusting relationships
• Calm and consistent when supporting pupils with emotional regulation
• Flexible, proactive and willing to learn
• A confident communicator and strong team player
• Reliable and committed to supporting pupils' individual needs
Experience as a Teaching Assistant, youth worker, support worker, carer or parent of a child with SEND would be welcomed.
