We are working on behalf of Centre College in Lambeth to recruit a committed and experienced SEND Tutor specialising in PMLD and SLD to join their dedicated team. This is a rewarding opportunity to deliver high-quality, personalised education to learners with a range of profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) and severe learning disabilities (SLD).

The role focuses on supporting learners on a pre-Entry personal progression pathway, many of whom have complex behavioural, medical and communication needs. The successful candidate will be instrumental in helping students develop independence, achieve their goals, and make meaningful progress.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver high-quality teaching that meets or exceeds college standards, ensuring strong levels of learner engagement, retention and achievement.

Plan and deliver highly personalised lessons, tailored to meet the diverse needs of PMLD and SLD learners.

Identify and assess individual learner needs throughout their programme of study.

Monitor and evaluate learner progress, providing feedback and support to help students reach their full potential.

Contribute to curriculum planning, development and coordination across a range of programmes.

Carry out all associated administrative duties including progress reports, attendance tracking, and participation in meetings and reviews.

Provide tutorial and pastoral support to learners, contributing to their personal and social development.

Work collaboratively with the Curriculum Manager, Director of SEND, and wider college staff to meet departmental and college-wide objectives.

Essential Criteria:

Proven teaching experience within a SEND setting, specifically with PMLD and SLD learners.

A recognised teaching qualification at Level 4 or above (e.g. Certificate in Education, Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training, PGCE, etc).

Strong knowledge of person-centred approaches and EHCP frameworks.

Excellent organisational and communication skills.

Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and continuous professional development.

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate educator who wants to make a tangible difference in the lives of young people with additional needs. The college offers a supportive working environment and is committed to ongoing professional development.
