Senior Planner – Major Engineering & Construction Programme

A leading engineering and construction organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Planner to join a high-profile major programme based in Derby. This is a key role responsible for driving project planning and controls throughout the full project lifecycle from construction delivery through to successful handover.
Working within a complex and secure environment, you will play a pivotal role in developing, managing, and integrating project schedules to support the successful delivery of a significant programme. You will work closely with project teams, stakeholders, and delivery partners to ensure effective planning, progress monitoring, and performance management.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, maintain, and manage detailed NEC-compliant project schedules.
Lead the integration of multiple project plans into a coordinated delivery programme.
Provide robust planning support across construction, commissioning, and handover phases.
Monitor progress, identify risks, and support effective mitigation strategies.
Produce clear programme updates, reporting, and performance insights for stakeholders.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, commercial teams, and delivery partners.
Provide leadership and guidance to planning team members.
About You:
You will be an experienced Senior Planner with a proven track record of delivering complex construction or engineering projects. You will have strong technical planning skills, excellent stakeholder management abilities, and the confidence to operate within a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
Essential Experience:
Significant experience in a Senior Planner or Lead Planner role on major projects.
Strong understanding of NEC contracts and project planning principles.
Experience managing complex construction programmes from inception through to completion.
Proficiency with planning software such as Primavera P6 or Asta Powerproject.
Strong communication, influencing, and leadership skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
