Senior SEN Casework Adviser
Lewisham
Contract
£350 Per Day

We are currently looking for a Senior SEN Casework Adviser for a role in Lewisham. The Senior SEN Casework Adviser will work with educational settings and professionals to promote the inclusion of pupils with special educational needs and disabilities with an EHCP.

Summary of Responsibilities and Personal Duties:

To work with educational settings and professionals to review their SEN strategies to meet the needs of pupils with an EHCP

To work with parents/ carers and young people to provide advice, information and support regarding EHCP process

Provide advice, guidance and support, ensuring that the SEN Team is responsive and customer orientated in meeting the needs of children with special needs and their families.

To support and train staff so that they have the required skills to undertake effective and efficient Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments and can write quality Education, Health and Care plans. Also to support SEN case workers to manage case work effectively.

To be able to undertake work at short notice on case work issues and make decisions.

To chair the SEN multi-agency advisory/decision making panels, determining statutory assessment, placement and provision for pupils with SEN

To work closely with Social Care, Lewisham PCT, CAMHS, Early Years, SEN Support Services and School Improvement Team to ensure joined up working and value for money for placement and provision for pupils.

To respond to enquiries about special educational needs and individual cases made by elected Councillors or MPs. Acting as a key point of contact for parents, schools, governors and voluntary agencies in all matters relating to the assessment, placement and provision for pupils with special educational needs.

To respond to complaints and breach investigations and act as a key point of contact for parents, young people, education setting and professionals.

To review and re-shape the service where appropriate to deliver improved outcomes including updating key documents such as policies and procedures and put in place new systems where needed.

To lead and undertake consultation to inform service development, ensure that consultation is fully accessible for all relevant stakeholders.

To ensure that disabled children, young people, their families are involved in the design and the delivery of the services.
