Axcis Education is currently recruiting for a dedicated full-time Specialist Teaching Assistant to join a special educational needs (SEND) school in Exeter. This role involves working closely with the class teacher while providing tailored support to pupils with additional needs throughout the school day.
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students’ academic progress as well as their social, emotional, and overall wellbeing. The position requires someone proactive, adaptable, and comfortable working in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist the teacher in preparing and organising lesson materials
• Support pupils with their learning and understanding in the classroom
• Provide guidance with social and emotional development
• Take part in activities such as sensory sessions, outdoor learning, and creative play
• Manage behaviour effectively and help de-escalate challenging situations
• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all pupils at all times
• Move between classes and assist during break and lunchtime supervision
• Provide cover for other SEND support staff when required

• Willingness to support across different areas of the school
• Previous experience working with SEND pupils

• Monday to Friday schedule (8:30am – 3:30pm), no weekend work
