Role: Student Support Mentor
Location: Taunton
Pay: £92.00 - £109.00 per day
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm, term-time only

Looking for a role where every day makes a difference?

A specialist middle school in Taunton is seeking a compassionate and resilient Student Support Mentor to join its dedicated team supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.

This is far more than a classroom support role. You'll become a key part of a nurturing environment where students are encouraged to develop confidence, communication skills, independence, and positive relationships alongside their academic learning.

The school supports pupils with a variety of complex learning needs and is well regarded for its personalised approach, strong pastoral care, and commitment to helping every young person achieve success in a way that works for them.

What will you be doing?

Working alongside teachers and specialist staff, you will:

Support students throughout the school day both in lessons and around the school environment
Deliver tailored 1:1 support and small-group interventions
Help pupils develop social, emotional, and communication skills
Encourage engagement in learning and positive behaviour
Adapt activities to meet individual needs and learning styles
Build trusting relationships that help students feel safe, valued, and confident
Celebrate progress, no matter how big or small

Who would suit this role?

You don't necessarily need school-based experience. We would love to hear from people who have worked in:

SEND support
Care or support work
Residential childcare
Youth work
Coaching or mentoring
Health and social care settings

Most importantly, you'll be patient, empathetic, and genuinely passionate about supporting young people with additional needs.

Why apply?

? Be part of a highly supportive and experienced team

? Gain valuable experience working within specialist education

? Develop skills in behaviour support, communication, and SEND practice

? Ideal experience for future careers in teaching, psychology, therapy, social work, or youth services

? Make a genuine impact on young people's lives every single day

If you're looking for a rewarding role where relationships, patience, and encouragement can transform a student's experience of education, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply today to become a Student Support Mentor and help young people achieve their potential.
