Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated and qualified Teacher of the Deaf to join our welcoming and inclusive primary school in Darwen from September 2026.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the lives of deaf and hearing-impaired pupils, helping them to achieve their full academic, social and emotional potential within a supportive mainstream setting.

Working closely with school staff, families and external agencies, you will play a key role in ensuring pupils have access to a high-quality education and an enriching school experience.

The Role

The successful candidate will:
• Assess, plan and deliver tailored teaching and learning programmes for deaf pupils.
• Support pupils' language, communication and literacy development.
• Advise and collaborate with teaching staff to ensure effective classroom inclusion.
• Work in partnership with parents, carers and specialist services.
• Monitor pupil progress and contribute to EHCP reviews and reports where required.
• Promote independence, confidence and positive outcomes for all learners.

We Are Looking For Someone Who:
• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Possesses, or is working towards, the mandatory qualification for Teachers of the Deaf.
• Has experience working with deaf children and young people within educational settings.
• Demonstrates a strong understanding of inclusive teaching practices.
• Has excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
• Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
• Works effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
