Are you passionate about supporting young people with autism as they prepare for adulthood?

Do you enjoy working in a hands-on, practical learning environment where every day is different?

We are currently recruiting for a specialist SEND college in Newton-Le-Willows, supporting students aged 16 to 25 with autism and a range of additional needs, including communication difficulties and complex learning needs.

This setting is designed to help students transition from education into adulthood, with a strong focus on independence, employability, and life skills.

Why This Role Stands Out:

This college takes a highly practical approach to learning. Alongside classroom-based education, students engage in vocational and real-world experiences to help prepare them for life beyond education.

Learners take part in activities such as:

• Running a student-led café
• Working within a garden centre and outdoor environments
• Developing enterprise and employability skills

The aim is to build confidence, independence, and transferable skills that will support students in their future pathways.

As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a key role in supporting students both in the classroom and in these practical settings, helping them gain the skills they need for adult life.

Key Responsibilities:
• Support students aged 16–25 with autism in both classroom and vocational settings
• Assist with the development of independence, life skills, and employability skills
• Adapt learning activities to meet individual EHCP outcomes
• Support communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation
• Get involved in practical learning environments such as the café and outdoor projects
• Work collaboratively with tutors, therapists, and support staff
• Help maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience working with young people with autism and/or complex needs
• A calm, patient, and supportive approach
• Interest in vocational and hands-on learning
• Confidence supporting students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• A genuine passion for helping young people prepare for adulthood

What You’ll Get in Return:

• Immediate start available
• Full-time, consistent hours (Monday to Friday)
• A supportive and experienced team environment
• Ongoing training and development opportunities
• A highly rewarding role where you can make a lasting impact

If you're looking for a meaningful role in a specialist college that focuses on independence, life skills, and preparing young people for their future, we’d love to hear from you.

Apply now to start your journey in a setting where you’ll truly make a difference.
