Axcis Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and well-established SEN school in Warrington to recruit a Mental Health Support Worker / SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils in Key Stage 2. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity starting at the end of February / beginning of March, ideal for someone passionate about supporting children with SEN and social, emotional, and mental health needs.

The school is easily accessible via public transport and is rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, offering a supportive and inclusive environment where staff are valued and encouraged to grow.

The Role
• You will play a vital role in supporting pupils’ emotional wellbeing, behaviour, and access to learning by:
• Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEN, SEMH, and mental health needs
• Creating a safe, nurturing, and structured environment that supports emotional regulation and positive behaviour
• Supporting pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development through targeted and therapeutic interventions
• Assisting with the delivery and review of individual support plans and IEPs
• Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and external professionals to ensure consistent and effective support
• Monitoring progress and maintaining accurate records of interventions and outcomes

About You
We’re looking for someone who:
• Has experience working with children with SEN and/or mental health needs, ideally within a school or similar setting
• Is calm, patient, emotionally resilient, and confident supporting pupils with additional needs
• Has strong communication and interpersonal skills and can build trusting relationships
• Understands behaviour management strategies, trauma-informed practice, or restorative approaches
•Is passionate about promoting inclusion, wellbeing, and positive outcomes for children

Requirements & Qualifications
• Previous experience in a Mental Health Support Worker, SEN TA, or similar role
• Relevant qualifications in mental health support, counselling, youth work, or SEN (desirable)
• A good understanding of policies and legislation relating to mental health and SEN in schools
• Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply
