Are you passionate about helping young people with additional needs achieve greater independence and prepare for adulthood?
Axcis Education is working with a specialist SEND college in Newton-le-Willows that supports students aged 16–25 with Autism (ASC) and a range of additional learning needs.
We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join the college on a full-time basis from September 2026. This is a highly rewarding opportunity to support students as they develop confidence, independence, employability, and essential life skills through a combination of classroom learning and practical experiences.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will:
• Support students with autism and additional needs in both classroom and vocational learning environments.
• Encourage independence, communication, and social interaction.
• Assist students with life skills, employability, and enterprise-based activities.
• Adapt your support to meet individual EHCP targets and learning goals.
• Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and self-confidence.
• Work collaboratively with tutors, therapists, and other specialist staff to provide outstanding support.
Students benefit from a hands-on curriculum that includes activities such as running a student-led café, horticulture and outdoor projects, community engagement, and employability programmes designed to prepare them for adult life.
What We're Looking For
We're keen to hear from candidates who:
• Have experience supporting young people with autism and/or additional learning needs (desirable but not essential).
• Are patient, empathetic, and committed to helping others succeed.
• Have an interest in practical, vocational, and life skills education.
• Are confident supporting students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
• Possess excellent communication skills and enjoy working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Are reliable, adaptable, and passionate about making a positive difference.
