Job Title: Primary Teaching Assistant
Location: Shaftesbury
Setting: Primary School
Hours: Full-time Monday to Friday
Pay: £14.25 – £14.50 per hour
Axcis Education is recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Primary Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Shaftesbury. This is a full-time Monday to Friday role supporting children across the primary age range, including pupils who may have additional educational needs or require SEND support.
The school provides a nurturing and inclusive learning environment with a strong focus on early development, communication, independence and positive behaviour support. This Primary Teaching Assistant role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with younger learners and is passionate about helping every child succeed.
As a Primary Teaching Assistant you will support learners to build confidence in their learning access the curriculum and make meaningful progress in their development and education.
What the Primary Teaching Assistant role involves:
• Working as a Primary Teaching Assistant supporting pupils across EYFS Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2
• Providing 1:1 and small group support as a Primary Teaching Assistant to help pupils access learning
• Supporting pupils who may have SEND needs as a Primary Teaching Assistant
• Assisting with phonics literacy numeracy and structured learning activities as a Primary Teaching Assistant
• Supporting classroom routines transitions and behaviour expectations as a Primary Teaching Assistant
• Encouraging communication confidence and independence as a Primary Teaching Assistant
• Working closely with teachers and support staff as a Primary Teaching Assistant
• Helping maintain a positive safe and engaging classroom environment as a Primary Teaching Assistant
• Observing and feeding back on pupil progress as a Primary Teaching Assistant
What we are looking for in a Primary Teaching Assistant:
• Experience as a Primary Teaching Assistant or working with children is desirable
• SEND experience is an advantage for a Primary Teaching Assistant
• A patient caring and consistent approach as a Primary Teaching Assistant
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team as a Primary Teaching Assistant
• A proactive flexible and supportive attitude as a Primary Teaching Assistant
• A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development
