Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant

Location: Frome, Somerset

Salary: £90 per day

Contract Type: Part-Time



About the Role:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Teaching Assistant to join our team at a supportive school located in Frome, Somerset. This role will specifically focus on assisting with the learning and development of students with specialist needs.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide tailored support to students with SEMH and complex needs, ensuring they can access the curriculum effectively.
- Work under the guidance of the lead teacher to implement educational plans and strategies.
- Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to the assessment process.
- Establish positive and supportive relationships with students, acting as a role model and mentor.
- Assist in creating a safe and inclusive learning environment that enables students to thrive both academically and emotionally.
- Use a range of communication techniques to effectively engage with students who may have varied communication needs.
- Work collaboratively with the wider school team, participating in relevant meetings and training sessions.
- Manage any behavioral issues in a calm and professional manner, in line with the school's policies.
- Facilitate small group activities and one-to-one support sessions as required.
- Assist with the preparation of teaching materials and resources that cater to individual learning needs.
- Support the physical care needs of students when necessary, potentially including some pupils with medical conditions.
- Respect and maintain confidentiality at all times.

About You:

- Strong understanding of the strategies required to manage challenging behaviors positively.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
- Patient, empathetic, and resilient character with a drive to make a difference in children’s lives.
- Enhanced DBS check and safeguarding knowledge are mandatory for this role.
